Hi T***,
Thank you very much for your e-mail !
I'd gladly give you some information about me and about everything else you
might want to know (don't hesitate to ask).
I'm a 20 years old girl living with my family in a neat little valley on the
Swabian Alb (South Germany, about 70 km in the south of Stuttgart). Hausen lies
in the "Killertal" (= valley of the Killer; Killer means not murderer but is the
name of a village and means "hamlet of church") although the river flowing
through it is called Starzel.
To explain how I came to love Ireland so much let me tell you a little story
It all began when I spilled ink over a CD...
It was the RUNRIG-CD "Searchlight" that one of my friends had borrowed me to see
what I thought of it. Having damaged the lyric-book I consequently bought her a
new one and kept the old one. Fortunately! Because after a few month I listened
to it more intensively and what do you say - I loved it!
Songs like Loch Lomond,
Tir A'Mhurain, Only the brave and especiallly Eirinn made and still make me
laugh and cry. This was step #1.
The second step were books about King Arthur. I read many different novels and
other books engaging in this subject. As I got very interested in the mythology
and celtic aspects in the tale I soon set my eyes on the Celts.
It was also the Celts who lead me to Ireland, Scotland and Wales (3rd step...),
these being the only countries where Celtic heritage (language, arts,
disposition, ...) survived the Roman invations. The circle closed. Ireland
combines celtic heritage, wild, wonderful landscapes, ancient marvelous tales
and great music (I love the song "Bard of Armagh"). A props, there's a great
music and dance show thouring through Germany at the moment "Michael Flatley's
Lord of the Dance". It is very successful and inspired many people so much that
each dancing school or fitness studio meanwhile offers Irish dance courses! I'm
planning to see the show in October in Stuttgart (I hope this will work).
At the moment I'm working to earn some money for my studies. I want to study
library science for 3-4 years, because after this time I would like to work
somewhere in Ireland in a library or a bookshop. Actually I wanted to make an
appreciation in Ireland but my parents thought this would be too difficult and
expensive.
So, I hope I didn't engross too much of your time and I also hope you will
ignore all my mistakes...
If it doesn't bother you I would be glad if you could tell me something about
your everyday life, if you still feel yourself as "Celtic" or how you came to
search for your ancestor's history.
Well then,best wishes and byebye,
Anja.
